About Vacation Rental Property Management Franchises
Book by Owner, originally under the name CSR Resort Properties, was started by Mike and Kerry Cushing in Dillon, CO in July 2003. The business model was based on their experience as vacation rental owners, living 100 miles away from their rental property. Booking their vacation home was easy; the challenge was servicing their guests during a stay. Dealing with lock outs, heat loss, housekeeping, repair and maintenance issues, and ensuring that the unit was presentable to the next guest was virtually impossible. The Cushings were constantly bothering their real estate agent, neighbors, or anyone else they could call to help on short notice. They wished for someone local whom they could pay a reasonable monthly fee to assist them when they needed help.
In 2003 the Cushings had the opportunity to move into their vacation home. At that point they decided to offer fellow vacation home owners in the area the kinds of services they had previously wanted themselves.
